Does anyone like Norther here, i heard them on last.fm and was wondering which would be their best album to get first.
i was thinking of getting Dreams of Endless War, especially as it has the Final Countdown cover, that is very good.
so, any suggestions (and please dont say "them all".)
Of course, give reasons, and also share your opinion of Norther as a band on the whole, so this thread my live long, and prosper under the weight of replys!

Ohh I absolutely LOVE them
Choosing a fav album is a bit hard... but I'd say either Mirror Of Madness or their newest one, Till Death Unites Us. Which songs have you heard already? _________________

I have all their albums, but at the moment I think the newest one is the best. I myself wasn't such a big Norther fan beforehand (still I'm not sure whether I'd call myself a 'big' fan...maybe just regular fan), but when I listened to the new album for the first time they really caught my attention. It's more melodic and I quite like the fact that Kride added some clean vocals there (my favorite song probably is 'Omen'...very addicting^^) and well I still find Pete's vocals a bit annoying but not as annoying as on the first albums^^ Thus I think I'd recommend Till Death Unites Us . If you like that one, then the rest. Also recommendable is the Spreading Death DVD-EP Not sure if it was released outside Finland though...
And as this fits here now - we just got a new interview with Norther online on my webzine, maybe someone's interested _________________ ~Haluatko kumiankan?~

I have the latest album as well and it's pretty good.

It's still funny that both Norther and COB covered this song. _________________ ~Elämä on ihmisen parasta aikaa~

COB didn't cover The Final Countdown: have a look at the Scythes Of Bodom FAQ, at the bottom of the third question "Which cover songs Children Of Bodom have recorded / played live so far?". The Final Countdown cover by COB is one of those fake cover songs that you find on p2p programms, just like Over The Hills And Far Away by Sonata, for example.
Back on-topic: even though I've heard only a few songs from Norther so far, they sound very good and I'm looking forward to be able to buy one of their album. But I'm currently saving money for the For The Sake OF Revenge CD-DVD. _________________

The whole being of my essence loves Norther. They're just simply amazing.
I own everything they've produced so far, and I just never seem to get tired of Norther..
Besides, the guys are really cool! I've talked with them about 6-7 times and every time the discussion has led us to the mutual opinion that sushi sucks, or something any 'normal' people could talk about. They don't act like big stars they are, and that's good. The human-factor is still there
I'm amazed myself I have gone to only one Norther gigs so far. I saw them in Sauna Open Air last year, and that's the only time I've ever seen them live. I'm looking forward to seeing them in SOA this year, and I'm certainly going to check out some smaller gigs too. Too bad I'm almost always broke.. _________________ Open your eyes, Nicholas! |

I got to know them some time ago and managed to get 3 of their albums and they all rock!
Mirror of MAdness is great, because the songs are more melodic. I especially like the first four songs (Blackhearted - Betrayed - Darkness&Light - Midnight Walkter).
Death Unlimited is heavier and more agressive, but also kicks ass! "Death unlimited" and "Nothing" are just two amazing songs!
I don't have the new album for a long time, but it's also absolutely amazing! Maybe even the best of the three! All songs are really special and it's both melodic and heavy... hard to describe differently than: ABSOLUT MASTERRRPIECE!
Can't wait to see them live at Tuska! _________________

Oh Norther. Last year I got to meet them personally and they were very nice, very polite and funny guys. On their gig they owned one song to me . So far I've seen them only once but I wouldn't mind to see them again. I don't listen Norther so often, but there are moments when their music is just perfect for that moment. It depens on what mood I am on that moment.
edit. maybe one day I'll learn how to spell Norther... _________________ Maan korvessa kulkevi lapsosen tie, hänt' ihana enkeli kotihin vie. Niin pitkä on matka, ei kotia näy, vaan ihana enkeli vierellä käy

yeah - they are amazing people indeed! I was lucky to meet them on the Finnish Metal Expo this year and they were really nice indeed! Jukka and Tuomas especially. ^^ _________________

I love Norther; I got to know them some time ago thanks to some girls who user to talk about Norther and Petri Lindroos the whole time *lol* I must say I like them a lot, I like them more than CoB, actually, it's like I don't get bored of Petri's voice, thing that has been happenng lately with Alexi's one. Still have to complete my Norther discography, but heh, after Unia and new NW-album I'll restart buying those missing albums again... _________________ "Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt"

People were talking about the similarity of Norther and COB. I didn't know Norther so I thought I'll check them out. I just listened to Nothing and was convinced that I like them
So far I only own Death Unlimited and Till Death Unites Us. I think they're both great, so in the near future I'll at least buy all the albums I'm missing.
I didn't know they plan a tour in fall. I hope I can manage to go to their gig in Munich. I'd love to see them live. _________________ Altaria guy: "Thank you for yourself" |

I LOVE Norther, this is one of my fav bands. Thank God they'll enter the studio in August/September...I'm eager to have new material to listen to. The "No Way Back" EP was a great preview.
What a pity they haven't toured South America yet.
Can't wait for this day to come! |
